Following repeated requests from the Jesuit authorities in Karnataka Province, to send sisters to Anekal mission to work in collaboration with them in the rural development program and non-formal education, a Canossian community was established in Anekal in June 1978. The sisters then lived in a small rented house, visited the nearby villages on foot and easily established a rapport with them. By religion they were Hindu and absolutely illiterate. Many activities beneficial for the people were envisaged and executed from 1978 onwards.

Up to January 1986, the sisters worked together with the Jesuits. In 1992, a Boarding House was inaugurated to accommodate children of the Dalit Christians and SC students of the area. In 1993, the convent took over the school. The sisters knew that education alone will bring these marginalized children to the mainstream of society.
